Could there have been a Sherer from that line that lived in Washington co. Pa in the early 1800s. Our William Sherer was born 1810 in Washington Co. and was raised, (at the request of his mother, on her death bed,) by and aunt Sarah Buchanan. I have not been able to find the name of Williams father or mother, but am assuming they both died about 1810 or so. Could they by any chance fit into your Shearer family?

There was a Thomas Sherer B:~1780 who, on the1800 Federal Census, lived in Washington County, PA. Might he be related to the William B:1810?

My great great grandfather was Leander West (who fought in the Civil War), son of William Preston West. Leander had a son Clarence West who had children, one of which was my dad Manuel Lee West, who had 3 children, myself Katina “Tina” Yvonne West, Terry Lee West and Tonda Starr who reside in San Jose, California.

My great great grandfather was Ephraim Shearer born in 1831 in PA. A census states his parents were not USA born. He married Eliza Burnwood also born in PA. I can’t find any info on his parents or hers. They moved to Indiana and Illinois eventually. Does anyone have these Shearers in their line?

My maternal grandfather is from Crawford Co., Pa. His paternal g-grandfather was John T. Shearer born in Virginia in 1779. He came to Pa. in his young adult life. He married Susan Lytle, daughter of John Lytle (Amer. Rev.) and Sarah Sample. John Shearer died in Venango, Pa. in 1832 and is buried in Gravel Run Cemetery there. Could he be part of your Shearer family? Any help anyone could give me would be most appreciated. Thank you.

Richard James Shearer 1744- 1778 would have been around thirty-one when the Rev War started and died within three years. Is there any indication that he was a soldier in the war?

Historical Register of Virginians in the Revolution shows Richard Shearer and Patrick Shearer as serving in the war.
